I have been sitting here for the last hour trying to nail down why I would start a site about menopause and hormone replacement therapy since I am male and in my thirties.

It could be because I really enjoy learning and digging into the the how and why of any subject I get interested in. (This is really how I work but it is not why I am spending hours and hours of my time researching this and trying to put together a usable web site for all of you.)

It could be because I have nothing better to do with my time and this is the first thing I could come up with to keep me busy. (Not likely since I spend a good 40 to 50 hours a week maintaining the network for the local school district among my other obligations and interests.)

Actually, I overheard a friend of mine at work a few months ago talking about the problems she was having with her doctor and his inability to understand what she was going through right then with her changing hormones. She is in her early 50’s and just recently moved back to this area. She is still in perimenopause and her hormones are fluctuating up and down and causing her symptoms to vary from week to week. She is in pre-menopause, not actual menopause - if you are not sure of the differences you can get more info on the main site http://www.menopause-effects.com when you get done with this post - I will have the link at the bottom of this too.

Later on I spoke with my mother-in-law (we have a pretty good relationship by the way) and she let me in on some of the problems she had with “The Change”. One of these was the lack of resources and places to find support during what is probably one of the most difficult times in a woman’s life.

Since my wife (Lorraine will be 38 this year by the way, but more on her later) will be getting close to the age where an early onset of menopause could happen, I decided it may not be a bad idea to look into this. In my mind this will not be something that affects her alone, it will affect me in a big way since my life revolves around us and the life that we are building together.

So now you know a small bit of the reason I am setting up this site. Check back later this week to see what I have planned for the site, how to help me make this site really work for you and more about why I am doing this.

Cheers!
Stephen
